The Garden Song, written by David Mallett has been recorded by over 150 artists over the years, including Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul & Mary and John Denver. The John Denver performance was more popular than most. Maybe that is why he was asked to perform it on Sesame Street.
David Mallet received inspiration for The Garden song as a young man whil helping is father plant a garden at his home in Main. The first verse came to him as he planted seeds in the garden.
